I'm Riding Solo For Men's Health In "The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride"

Friday 14th

On Sunday the 27th of September, I'm riding solo in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember.

Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.

Rainbow - Stargazer

The start of Rainbow’s epic, a tale of a wizard who believed he could fly. People believe in the wizard and are enslaved in order to build a tower in harsh conditions in the desert so he can fly, during which many die. When the tower is finally erected the wizard climbs the tower only to fall to his death instead of flying, and the slaves feel lost until they see a ‘Rainbow Rising’ (the album title) on the horizon. This then leads onto the final song on the album ‘A Light in the Black’, in which people re-find their purpose after a light in the sky appears.

[Verse 1]
High noon, oh I'd sell my soul for water
Nine years worth of breakin' my back
There's no sun in the shadow of the wizard
See how he glides, why he's lighter than air?
Oh, I see his face
[Pre-Chorus]
Where is your star?
Is it far, is it far, is it far?

When do we leave?
I believe, yes, I believe
[Chorus]
In the heat and the rain
With whips and chains
To see him fly
So many died
We build a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
Just to see him fly
But don't know why
Now where do we go?

[Verse 2]
Hot wind, moving fast across the desert
We feel that our time has arrived
The world spins, while we put his dream together
A tower of stone to take him straight to the sky
Oh, I see his face
[Pre-Chorus]
Where is your star?
Is it far, is it far, is it far?

When do we leave?
Hey, I believe, I believe
[Chorus]
In the heat and the rain
With whips and chains
Just to see him fly
Too many died
We build a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
To see him fly
But we don't know why
Ooh, now where do we go

[Instrumental break 3:31-5:12]
[Guitar solo]
[Verse 3]
All eyes see the figure of the wizard
As he climbs to the top of the world

No sound, as he falls instead of rising
Time standing still, then there's blood on the sand
Oh, I see his face
[Pre-Chorus]
Where was your star?
Was it far, was it far?

When did we leave?
We believed, we believed, we believed

[Chorus]
In heat and rain
With the whips and chains
To see him fly
So many died
We built a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
To see him fly

But why
In all the rain
With all the chains
Did so many die
Just to see him fly

Look at my flesh and bone
Now, look, look, look, look
Look at his tower of stone

I see a rainbow rising
Look there, on the horizon

And I'm coming home, I'm coming home, I'm coming home
Time is standing still
He gave back my will
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Going home
I'm going home

My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is leaving here
But it's not home
But it's not home
Ooh

[Outro]
Take me back
He gave back my will
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Going home
I'm going home

My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is leaving here
But it's not home
But it's not home
Ooh

Ooh
Take me back, take me back
Back to my home ooh, ooh, ooh

Dio - Heaven And Hell Live In London 2005

This is the song that Ronnie James Dio was most proud to have ever written. It was definitely the most famous Dio-era song from Black Sabbath, being played at virtually every concert when Dio was with the band.
Dio has said that the lyrics are about which path we take. Whether it be the path to Heaven or the path to Hell. He said this song was written for the religious people who force you to do things and make you think that everything is evil. This song is supposed to tell you to choose your own path, which makes you a good person.

If only this was real...
